The summit recognized that ocean economy, energy economy, sustainable development and job creation through research and innovation cannot be considered through silo thinking. These areas should be researched and science policy should be recommended based on the understanding of the interrelationships between them.
The presentations and discussions held during the summit indicated that interdisciplinary, multi-sectoral, multi-national interactions are necessary for developing innovative, applicable and impactful research, policy and commerce. Therefore, such events that bring different perspectives together to create synergy should be continued in the future as the core network generated at the summit continues to interact and grow.
